The Old Windmill is close to my heart, I've worked there for almost 4 years and it's honestly one of my favourite places in the world to eat, drink and socialise. The pub itself is warm and welcoming and the building is beautiful with many traditional features including wood beams, flagstone floors and a large fireplace. The Old Windmill pride themselves on their style and atmosphere, and offer good cask ales, fresh food, decent wines and a good offer of malt whiskeys, gins and spirits. The pub is informal and is casual dining at it's best. In terms of food, it's good. Very good. The chefs are great, and they cook great food. The menu is updated daily and they make big changes to the dishes every couple of months, using seasonal ingredients and inspiration, but the core British pub food that you want to see is always available including Fish & Chips, Sausage & Mash, and Ham Egg & Chips. In terms of service, on the whole it is friendly and attentive although occasionally (very, very occasionally), on a busy Saturday evening or Sunday lunchtime it can be somewhat haphazard. What the Windmill offers to make up for that however far surpasses the levels of service you can expect in other similar gastropubs. The Old Windmill team are a family; we're all misfits, young, old, male, female, full time, part time, students, . We all have different interests, opinions and hobbies, but we're all bound together through a common passion and enthusiasm for food and drink, and we're all best of friends. I believe that comes across to customers at The Old Windmill. When you arrive you will be warmly welcomed, introduced to our world of great flavour food and good quality drinks and then are free to relax and unwind in a local country pub until it's time to go home, where we bid farewell and you leave as friends. This is an ethos we're proud of and we hope all customers leave with fondness for the pub in their hearts.
On the whole, The Old Windmill is worth a visit, even if it's just for a drink. Trust me, you won't regret it!
